[Avid-L2] Progressive Vs. Interlace Processing in 1080P 29.97?

Working on a show that is 95%+ CG progressive animation brought in as 16bit tiff sequences to DNX220X.  There was a field shoot that was shot interlace but apparently everything was captured as progressive into the project.  In the 29.97P mode I get split frames with the interlace footage as expected but everything is okay going out to tape when I tested.  Upon further examination some interlace footage that is nested inside a 3Dwarp is showing split frame issues.  This makes sense because it was rendered with the project in 29.97P mode.  The fix is to toggle the project to 59.94I for the render of the 3D warp effect.  What I am seeing with other effects is that they don't bake in the split frame like the 3D warp effect does.  My conclusion so far is that only certain effects blend the 2 Psf's when rendering.   3D warp does and this makes sense because I would expect any box movement to update on a frame basis not a Psf when the project is
29.97P.  Paint effect defocuses don't seem to be any different when rendered in P or I.  Can anyone confirm or deny that some effects process differently in P and I modes while others aren't effected by the mode?
