[Avid-L2] M35U and 24p

 

Hi,

We started shooting a project two years ago on the Sony Z7U. Most of the footage was shot 24p and we offlined it at DV25 in a 1080i/59.94 project, figuring that we would go the broadcast route as opposed to theatrical release.

Now I'm trying to up-res some of the tapes and capturing via firewire. From everything I've read, I thought I would be able to bring it into a 1080i/59.94 project, but I wasn't able to. It would run for about a second before the spinning ball came up. I was able to bring it into a 1080p/23.976 project, however.

If anyone has more experience with the deck, I'd appreciate some input. Did I get something wrong in the menu settings, or can you really not capture a 24p tape into a 59.94 project? (When the tape was inserted, the HDV and 24 indicators lit up. My menu settings were set for iLink, and HDV.)

I'm on a Mac 10.6.2, 10GB RAM, 2x2.6 Ghz Quad-Core Intel, running Avid Media Composer 4.0.5.
