Subject: [Avid-L2] VITC reads intermittent on JVC DT-V24L3D
After all the issues I had with the dub house we used last season now we
have a new dub house and overall levels are good. I have notice 1 out of 3
BetaSP closed captioned dubs they make for us has vitc that plays back
intermittently on the time code display on my JVC DT-V24L3D. The monitor tc
display is feed sd sdi playing back the betasp from a DVWa500 and the time
code blips up then the display is all dashes until an updated time code
blips up about every 5 seconds. I tried in house betasp masters and they
are fine and it is only one tape displaying the issue. The vitc looks
decently shaped on line 16 and 18 on my Tek scope. I can only guess when
they make the betasp closed caption dubs that one of their machines is a
little out of spec although I sure don't see it on the waveform and both a
betasp BVW-70 and the DVWa500 show a solid vitc beacon at the machine. The
closed captioning signal seems to be decoding fine on the tek scope.
Anybody had any experience with the JVC monitor time code vitc reader being
finicky? I haven't seen this before with the monitor hence I believe the
issue is from the record machine. TIA
