RE: [Avid-L2] OT: 1080/50i HDCAM playback in Brazil?

Marcelo, Agustin, Bogdan, Dennis, many thanks, I did suggest to them the frame rate option and having not heard back from them i reckon this may well be the case. We had no idea it was going to Brazil so the buck is well and truely passed to the client! Many thanks for your helpful suggestions One List to rule them all!

Brazil and I received a call saying they can't hear any audio on the

tape. This is all the infomation i have been given. I know that there

is definitly audio on the tape as i was listening to my VTR returns

when laying off and it was double checked by a tech op before

leaving. I'm meant to be speaking to them shortly and was wondering

if anyone has any ideas as to why this might be? I know they use PAL-

M over there which is different from the UK where we're working out of

but i'm not sure this is the case. The only thing I can think is

maybe they have their HDCAM machine set to play some other frame rate

or something? The lack of information is killing me but when have you

ever received that perfect phone call with all the info?

I offer:

Yes, Brazil is PAL-M which uses a 30fps rate. Your HDCAM tape runs

at 25fps. They may be able to play the tape if the machine is set up

properly, but they also may not be able to USE it if their systems are

all 30fps. And that fact could also explain why they get no audio:

Trying to run a 25fps recording at 30fps may be the reason why they

are getting no audio.
