Re: [Avid-L2] New Member & AMA and P2 in MC v5.5

My AMA/P2 issues were resolved when I installed the plug-ins.

Starting with 5.5, AMA plugins are installed separately by the user.

Hi Everyone -

While I'm new to your group, I've been editing on MC for many years. After a detour with FCP, I've recently added MC v5.5 to my edit kit. Nearly all of my work originates in p2. With FCP, a third party plug-in allowed me to access the native mxf files without re-wrapping. I looked forward to the same functionality with AMA. I've had some difficulties and have not found answers in the docs or in other forums.

All p2 footage gets transferred from cards or mobile drives to my edit raid array. Files are organized by job, with one folder containing folders of footage from each individual p2 card. Regardless of where that master folder lives, either at the root of the drive or buried in other folders, it will not mount as a volume. An error message simply says that it will not mount. I played with the AMA settings, but that didn't make a difference. I can mount each individual file but then spanned clips are not recognized, nor does any clip exceed 30 seconds in length. As a test, I did bring these files into FCP and had no issues whatsoever.

So what am I doing that keeps me from mounting volumes and why can't I access all my footage?

Your thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Ken
