Avid docs recommend you not mix and match AMA and traditional import. I
suspect that's the issue.
If you look at a matched pair of clips, you want the following fields to
be the same: start and end timecode, tape name (not blank), tracks.
You could try assigning a unique tapename to each matched pair of clips
(through the modify menu item), and see if the relink works then.
