[Avid-L2] Re: MC5 crashing a lot (error Messages)

Hi there...
Couple of things can be causing that error. First if you are using the MC 5 code base then you want to upgrade to the lastest patch/update which is MC 5.0.4 - one of the AMPI error bugs was fixed so make sure you are on the latest patch. You can access that software on the download center.

Next try disabling the Ethernet NIC – if the computer has 2 NIC ports - go into the bios and disabled the second unused NIC port and the issue seems to go away.

You should also disable the DEP (Data Execution Prevention).
Right-click on My Computer
Chose Properties
Chose Advanced System Settings
Under Performance, select Settings
Select the Data Execution Prevention tab and then click "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those that I select"
Select the checkbox next to your Avid Video Application (Symphony, Media Composer, or NewsCutter) and click OK

This error can also be caused by running unsupported antivirus software too but probably isnt your issue since a new settiings file works.

If this doesnt work... ping me on email.

So I scudded the computer again got W7 64 on. Put on AMC straight away and it all worked. Then, me being me, I created my new user and moved all my default %appdata% paths to my D: drive. Went to run AMC and got the error. The app runs in the original profile, but not the new one.
