So here's a quick question (I do work with AMA and XDCAM a lot and avoid these by transcoding early to DNX HD res (220 or 220X, but you can't always do that, and in the interest of being prepared...) when you say you add the same tape number to the AMA clips - where? To the volume folder? To each individual clip? Where are you adding the tape # so it will relink?

With the XDCAM EX, open your AMA bins and transcode to your offline resolution. Add a tape number to the offline res clips that relates to the card that the footage was shot on so that you can track it back at conform - date, camera number and roll number works well. Then when ready to online put your sequence in a bin on its own, show reference clips to reveal the clips in the sequence and their unique tape numbers then mount the volumes you need. Now add the same tape number to the AMA clips and relink the sequence. HTH
