[Avid-L2] OT: 1080/50i HDCAM playback in Brazil?

 

Hi L2,
I have a client who has an HDCAM 1080/50i tape. It's been taken to Brazil and I received a call saying they can't hear any audio on the tape. This is all the infomation i have been given. I know that there is definitly audio on the tape as i was listening to my VTR returns when laying off and it was double checked by a tech op before leaving. I'm meant to be speaking to them shortly and was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why this might be? I know they use PAL-M over there which is different from the UK where we're working out of but i'm not sure this is the case. The only thing I can think is maybe they have their HDCAM machine set to play some other frame rate or something? The lack of information is killing me but when have you ever received that perfect phone call with all the info? Any ideas? TIA,
