What I found most smirk inducing in Larry's demo was that most of what he chose to highlight as "cool" in FCP X (playing and marking in a bin, rolling trim, databases in your media folders, the ability to resize the audio waveform in the timeline display) have been in Avid MC for some time. Not knowing how to close the scopes was another chuckle inducing moment.
I don't really know his background, but did Larry ever cut on a Media Composer? He would have liked it if he had, by the looks.

Larry Jordan isn't an Apple employee, so on what does he base his
statement that the problems will be fixed soon? I'm not saying they
won't, perhaps multicam and other stuff was too buggy to meet the beta
and ship dates, but why doesn't Apple make a statement. Larry's a
smart guy, but I can't tell if Apple's using him as a puppet here or
what.
> Both red giant and saphire have plugins ready to work with fcpx too.
Interesting. Who said that? On Tuesday Aharon Rabinowitz of Red Giant
posted on the company blog:
"Apple has not yet contacted 3rd party plugin developers to let them
know what the transition plan is for plugins in FCPX.
That's really all we've got right now. We know as much as you do.
We're downloading the software ourselves for the very first time..."
Rest of post here:
http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/blog/2011/06/21/final-cut-x-is-here/
So maybe some current RG plugins work with FCPX or maybe they've now
seen the "API's big hooks." But it doesn't look like they've yet done
any unique work for FCP X. Not that they won't.

If you want to donate to Red Cross quake relief, you can do so through your cell phone. Text redcross to 90999 to make a $10 donation. It will be on your next cell bill.
