by bit and with the help of a lot of third parties, it became definitely
professional.
The problem now is they have burned a lot of trust. While it's possible FCP
X will regain a lot of the pro features that we might need, it's hard to
imagine bigger businesses (networks, post houses, etc) trusting them again
so quickly after this experience. And the environment is different to the
one FCP came up in - Avid is cheaper and more open than it was, Premiere has
a lot more pro features than it used to. FCP forced it's way in with a
drastically low cost, but that's not going to help them so much the second
time round.
I know a broadcaster that was about to put a fairly large FCP install in -
they are not now, and I doubt they'll even consider Apple's products for
such a task again for a long time.
