think even optimistically it will take years to get back some of the really
big features that multi-installation clients might need. That's if it
happens at all - I still find it hard to beleive Apple will put that level
of work (and possible complexity) into FCP X to satisfy what is a tiny tiny
fraction of the potential audience for the product.
FCP X can't be all things to all people, and I think that Apple sees more
benefit in it being "awesome" to a mass market. Third parties and Apple will
probably bridge the gaps for some professionals, but I can't see FCP X
regaining the spot held by it's predecessors in high end broadcast and film
post production.
Although I'm sure some of the best concepts (ranged keywords springs to
mind) will find their way in to Avid and Adobe's tools for that market.
