In a related question, though I have no need/use for FCPX, can anyone tell me if I have NEVER had FCS of any flavor on my machine, what I need to buy/download to have the ProRes codecs? I'll need to round-trip ProRes on projects so I need to be able to write that codec.
Thanks,
-P

Wow, informative and entertaining at the same time! I needed that morning laugh.
I was mulling downloading FCPX to start learning it, since it seems that continuing to learn FCP7 may be useless soon. But now, perhaps I won't. I'll just continue with MC. If I had to "completely and thoroughly annotate every fucking frame in the three-hundred-and-seventy hours of rushes that go into your show" in every project, I think I'd shoot myself...

If you want to donate to Red Cross quake relief, you can do so through your cell phone. Text redcross to 90999 to make a $10 donation. It will be on your next cell bill.
