RE: [Avid-L2] Batch import problem

Why do you need to batch import? Just mount the AMA volume and re-transcode to DV25. Ditch the clips you've created and start fresh. For the relink to online, make sure you give your offline clips a tape name and your AMA clips a tape name.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Batch import problem

Greetings L2rs,

I've lurked awhile and have come to appreciate the amazing support the

members of this list give. So I'm hoping to understand an issue I have

- with a little help.

I'm on MC5.5.2 on a Mac.

Quite a large documentary project shot mostly on P2 cards.

Cards copied to ext hard drive. AMA works beautifully.

I renamed and sorted the clips into various bins.

Because of other mixed formats to come, I started to transcode to

DNXHD 185x onto my internal raid, but found that It takes up too much

space. (project will eventually be approx 100 hours)

So I figure I should actually transcode to DV 25 for offline, then re-

import or re-link for online.

Here is the thing: If I delete the media of any of the transcoded

clips, I cannot batch import in any format - not the original, not the

project format, not even un-renamed clips.

Obviously I point to the original clips on the external drive.

Error Message:

"You cannot import this file to a bin - See the documentation about

transferring media files"

I have searched the documentation, but am none the wiser.

Re-link also doesn't work.

What am I missing? Any pointers would be appreciated. Also, if this is

not good workflow, please advise.

Thanks

Ashley
