Re: [Avid-L2] Adobe, "The Other White Meat"?

Premiere Pro is the obvious answer for a great many FCP users though...
- Supports most of the same hardware
- Reads FCP projects
- Good ProRes support
- Very similar operation (and an FCP keyboard setting)
- Many already own it

My PPro experience is somewhat limited. It was among my recommendations for
a corporate client who is producing in-house video podcast content, and it
works well, but I find it remarkably unintuitive being experienced in After
Effects. Not sure how it stands up on bigger projects or complex
multi-editor installations, but it certainly doesn't have a reputation for
broadcast and film work, but neither did FCP for a while, and it's about to
get a big bump up in the industry.

IMHO Avid really needs to do two things to make Media Composer more
appealing in the face of that - support for Kona and Decklink cards (at
least) and an included tool for FCP project import. If they can't provide
those very soon then they need to at least announce a commitement to making
them happen and suggest a timeframe (which is more than Apple is doing with
any of it's "we'll fix it" lines).
