Department Overview
FRONTLINE post-production on-lines, color corrects and packages all FRONTLINE documentaries. Working at our OutPost editing facility we are also responsible for all on-air promotional spots and several promotional clip reels each season. In addition the OutPost facility supports numerous client projects throughout the year.
Position Overview
The assistant editor is responsible for supporting the work of the post-production department with additional deliverables to the promotion and web units. This includes: Avid digitizing from tape sources. Ingesting file based sources. Loading and editing credits and ID's with Avid Title Tool or Marquis. Re-formatting clips. Creating edited clip-reels. Exporting materials for client review and the promotion/web units. Creating and outputting alternate versions of programs (foreign, iTunes, home video, etc.). Media management. Imports and export audio files for mix sessions. Tape-to-tape duplication in the OutPost machine room. Labeling and other duties. Experience working under deadline pressure is a plus.
Skills Required
Candidate needs to have a minimum of four years of industry experience. They should have significant knowledge of Avid editing and storage tools and should be conversant in Adobe After Effects and Photoshop. Candidate needs to have a comprehensive knowledge of video, audio, and graphic file formats. Experience with Final Cut Pro is adventageous. Candidate must be fluent in both Apple Macintosh and Windows platforms and have familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Filemaker-Pro.
