If it is crucial that you see the desktop remotely this won't work - but if you just need to be able to push the video and audio of the cut - you are well on your way using the iChat program

Get the video and audio to turn in to a DV stream (using something like Canopus ADVC-100), and then feed this firewire in to a different mac... that mac will think the firewire video is a camera.
From there it's just like iChat except instead of a talking head it's your Avid Cut.

Hopefully that's helpful to someone. (I was pleased with myself when I thought of it - ;) )
