This could be a job for team view but I'm not sure the audio comes across. I know I was able to monitor a long capture and IIRC the vu meters on avid moved about what I would expect so the screen refresh should be fast enough for the video to be reviewed. Mostly I've used it for renders to check on their progress and restart if needed.
