Ok, i can take the twenty projects.
Well, i'm running a one man shop nowadays, and don't do a lot of editing,
and i STILL have 8 projects at the same time.
BUT, (and this is where i want to make my point (for those who don't know
me...)
If George Lucas is satisfied with shooting HDcam for a feature, and your
clients want uncompressed RGB, they have to pay a premium.
Now, if clients pay a premium, giving them dedicated storage (solid state if
needed for speed) is nothing compared to the coffee / custom clothed coffee
girls they also require to keep them happy.
Right?

Bouke,
At any given time we can have twenty or more projects on our shared
storage. That is a lot of storage. Add to that multiple systems hitting
those at the same time and you need the bandwidth.
Also, RAID 5 doesn't deliver the performance needed for 4:4:4 HD. So, I have
to mirror to protect the data from accidental loss. Now it eats up twice as
much space. It's amazing how fast 36 TB disappears in this situation.
