For example: Just today I learned that you can do "selects" and "reject" or hide bad footage in your captures in iMovie. That makes it a lot more useful. Basically it allows you to subclip, in a way. The trimming model is interesting. Some of the ways to deal with clips and transitions and even audio in the "sequence" are very interesting. There are definitely a lot of obstacles to using iMovie for professional work, but seeing some of the UI solutions that iMovie uses in editing definitely show potential. It's THESE things that I think Apple is considering using in FCP X.
