I have this same problem too sometimes. I haven't been able to solve it. I do seem to recall that there was a console command to disable it.

If the replacement QT has a different duration than the original, I think you're
stuck with a new import, and matching by eye.

is there a way to avoid the batch import to re-time QT clips to fit original
clip length in MC 5 ?
This is an example of what is happening at the moment:
we send the editor a 2 second QT clip of CGI.
5 days later we send the same clip but it lasts 4 seconds. When the clip is
batch imported, it is 2x sped-up (a frame is removed every 2 frames) by MC to
match the original length.
By default, MC seems to try to "squeeze" things to fit first clip length.
Is there a way to disable this behaviour ?
Unless the editor is constantly made aware of changes in length of
source material, it seems a bit confusing and dangerous.
