[Avid-L2] Re: Prores and avi mjpeg - what is the future?

 



I agree. I don't see broadcasters falling all over prores. The telestream solution costs a fortune and as long as apple does not develop the codec for PC and Linux, it is not a standard in my opinion. I was hoping that fcpx would have a response, but as codecs are nasty , unsexy things, best not talk about them. Leave that to others to sort out.

Anyway, what do you all use as a cross platform lossy intermediate codec? I am struggling with the Linux paradigm. Is there an open source solution ?
