I've spent some time tonight going over the whole SuperMeet video again and the various screen grabs of the GUI that have been floating around. It's very easy to see where most of the ideas come from. Many are borrowed from current Apple apps (FCP, iMovie, Aperture, Soundtrack Pro), but also others (Adobe, Avid, DPS, Singular, Pinnacle). Granted, they have been updated with modern approaches and code.
Let's assume FCP X works as advertised and the various concerns are addressed about I/O, timeline translation, plug-ins and networked storage. If that's the case, this will be the single most sophisticated update to any NLE in a long while.
That's a big "if", but I think Apple realizes this is too big of a deal to falter on. We'll see for sure in June.
