[Avid-L2] Deck Control through Com port not working on Win 7 PC

 

Hi all,

I am running MC 5.5 on an xw8600 and can't get deck control through the Com Port to work. I am using a Rosetta Stone 232 to 422 adapter, but I also have an old Avid adapter cable, both of which used to work fine, but neither work now.

The Rosetta Stone has both LED's lit up (which should indicate that the Com Port is working). The Com Port shows up as working in Device Manager with a Microsoft driver, I can select the Com Port 1 in the Deck Config, but when I go to auto configure or manually configure a deck Avid doesn't see any decks.

I have previously used this setup with a Sony J3, but am now trying to connect to an DVW-M2000P.

I thought it might be related to Win 7 drivers but I have got XP setup on a seperate boot drive and that doesn't work either.

Looking at the Com1 drivers in Device Manager there is an entry for "Avid Serial", but this driver won't load.

Anyone got any ideas? I am laying off a load of programmes today and am having to crash record, which is not ideal. Thanks
