nah, the original issue was that the export from MC stinks for the OP.
(Works fine for me though...)
Thus, in your suggested workaround the first step will mess things up
already...
As Job pointed out, and, (at least Dutch) consensus seems to be, the RGB
option is flagged where it should not.
As for levels after that, if MC outputs 16 -235 with 2.2 (?) gamma, and
other apps display that as such on a client monitor, it's not an Avid
problem IMHO.

Going back to the original issue, if you feel FCP gives you better results,
then my suggested workaround is this:
1. Export QT reference from MC using Avid codec.
2. Convert to ProRes using Compressor.
3. Import into FCP.
4. Output as needed.
