I don't have half your experience mixing all those different formats in a sequence.

I think an HDSDI playout to an external device is probably the safest way to go about it.

Not sure what the issue is with HDV etc. and the flagging, but I'd sooner suspect Quicktime than Avid. QT is not the greatest format when it comes to flags, gamma, etc.

FCP import is also tricky in my book. I was never able to correctly import a simple Belle Nuit tesr chart in FCP, as it always remapped. So i'm not sure the FCP import is the best test.

I prefer DNxHD conversion because it wraps into a single codec, and the Avid codecs are correctly keeping 709 as 709, without remapping.

In fact, playing out to FCP or tape is basically doing the same thing, wrapping into a single codec.
