Re: [Avid-L2] Plural eyes

I just downloaded a trial copy of Plural Eyes. I'm giving it
a try now. In theory it should work but...
I'll report back.

I've used Plural Eyes, though not on Avid MC.

Are you dealing with multicam footage, or double-system material? Not
that it makes a big difference... The key thing is, the more the audio
waveforms on the various devices match, the better (and faster) Plural
Eyes will work.

If production was working double system and had the mixer send an good
audio guide track to the camera(s), then things will line up pretty
quickly and pretty well.

If production had several 5D operators running around with crappy mics
on their cameras and a PA holding a boom mic while browsing the crafty
snacks.... uh...

There are a couple sync options in Plural Eyes. The "try really hard"
options helps if the audio track waveforms don't match (because of
cameras' differing perspectives, levels, etc)... But it's slow.

How many shots do you have?

Dozens? Might take 30min to sync (lots of variables here; could be
less, could be more).
Hundred or two, and crappily recorded audio? Might take hours.

Singular software makes available trial versions and manuals for their
software. They're also pretty good about posting known bugs.

Well, this isn't a perfect answer. But hope it works a bit.
