I could be wrong - but I see stuff like that here when the deck reports that it is is downconvert mode (outputting time code at 23.98 instead of 29.97) when the avid tries to grab control.

I don't have that specific deck - but maybe checking what it's setting is for 'remote tc' or something similar will help.
