I've had no luck with good TC off of THM files. I also don't add TC to the H.264 files. I think that's problematic due to long-GOP.
I've had good luck with MPEG Streamclip conversion to DNxHD QT. QtChange TC/Reel number write using NEW numbers. Make sure you have set the correct frame rate standard in the top menu. Fast import into MC. Conversion to ProRes/QT Change and AMA has also been fine.
