Curious about the real world use of LT04 backup. We have LTO Ultrium 4 product line offers 800GB (1600GB compressed) Fujifilm tapes for out unit which is handled by out of house engineers. What is the time frame to archive 300GB to tape and then what is the retrieval time? I know LTO from an engineering stand point is considered more reliable but given the time it takes to organize the retrieval process, the additional cost for bare drives over the LTO tape cost seems more reasonable. What are the real time considerations for backup and retrieval?
