Hi Owen,

At this point that blog entry is based on testing I had done with sample files from ARRI. This was in preparation for some local clients who are migrating to Alexa for all of their digital production. I tested a mixture of HQ and 4444 files shot at 23.98 as well as an overcranked 60fps. The files came from both SxS and KiPro recordings AFAIK and used both Log-C and Rec 709 color profiles.
The files didn't have any embedded audio and early versions of the camera don't have onboard sound enabled. I believe the design of the camera is for 2 tracks to be recorded with the idea of these being "guide tracks" for double-system sound jobs (although these will be high-quality recordings). If your project is double-system, then sync with a slate as normal and you should be fine.
You should be able to AMA the ProRes files and then transcode the selects to DNxHD.
The other issue is the Log-C profile. It's ideal for grading, but there is no automatic LUT you can apply in MC to adjust it accurately for more pleasing client viewing. OTOH the curve is pretty graceful, so I was quite happy with basic/automatic balances in the color correction mode. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Oliver
