Hello all,
On my current project, XDCam HD discs have been shot and returned to me,
and are being interpreted by the Avid as having eight audio tracks. It
appears that the second four tracks are just mirrors of the first four,
so after ingesting each disc, I've been going into the Media Tool and
deleting tracks five to eight.
That's the way I've always done that sort of thing with tape-based
captures.
Thing is, if I now try to play any of the master clips, the Avid won't
play them back, because it can't find the audio files that relate to the
last four tracks of audio. I don't remember that being an issue with
tape-based captures.
It's not a huge deal, because I've laid out each disc in a sequence,
without the last four tracks of audio, and that plays back just fine. I
just come unstuck when I quickly want to matchframe a clip, which won't
then playback.
I guess the answer is to unlink each clip, modify the track to uncheck
A5-A8, but I'm dealing with an awful lot of clips here.
Is there merit in keeping the Avid working this way, or is it something
that Avid should/could have a look at for the next release/patch?
