If you check out some of the posts (and including Storm comments at REDuser), you'll see that so far these are less than 1.0 products. Very early in the development and very buggy and crash-prone. I think most pros will hold off for a while before committing real work to either of these products. Let the pioneers accumulate a few arrows first ;-)
The reality is that products like MC/Sym/NC, DS, FCP, EDIUS, Premiere Pro, Vegas Pro, Smoke and Quantel have had time to develop some reliability. Even when they do have bugs, it's a world of difference between that and these betas. It's easy to overlook than when "grass is greener" products come onto the playing field.
That may not totally apply to Lightworks, but I suspect a lot of programming changes have been made to this "new" product. It's likely very removed from the workhorse LW systems that a few film editors have been using.
