import the Flip cam footage into our Avids than it is footage shot on newer
cameras. (No H.264 support)

I feel your pain. We have an entire project coming up which is being shot on
a Flip-type camera. It's purely budgetary. The one shining ray of hope is
that the client, who's shooting it, has shot before and got a Kodak camera
with an external mic input. So at least the interviews will be intelligible.
