Does anyone have any thoughts/insight into whether or not both I/O devices can be connected at the same time? My gut tells me it will be an either/or situation probably requiring a shutdown of the computer between powering up/down the needed hardware depending on HD/SD project.
It may be time to abandon the Adrenaline hardware and for that matter Avid entirely and just move to an Adobe Premiere Pro system using the Matrox MXO2 Mini as I/O for the BetacamSP footage and monitoring of the P2 HD footage. For the record I'd rather stick with the Avid Media Composer software, but purchasing a Nitris DX so we can continue to capture SD analog material while adding HD monitoring capability is fiscally irresponsible.
Perhaps we won't be switching back and forth between SD and HD projects all that frequently and I'm concerned about nothing. We may also migrate to total HD production sooner than I anticipate but that seems unlikely. Plus I suspect we'll still need to deliver SD versions on BetacamSP for the foreseeable future. If you're wondering, we'll be delivering the HD versions as digital files via FTP but let's face it, anyone that wants a BetacamSP tape is most likely not in any position to accept a digital file!
