AH, now i get it.
You're right, master clips will NOT relink, but sequences WILL.
(and imho a sequence is worth more than a master clip.)

Bringing back the master clips can be done by dragging them from the Media
Tool,
or a decompose of the relinked sequence with insane handles. (without extend
beyond master clip checked)
Then those offline master clips will relink to the fresh ingested material.

For the OP, this should be good enough for rock 'n roll, not?

Yes, a subclip will relink. I stated that. But a masterclip won't relink
unless it has the same start TC, same duration and same tape name.
