I guess that should read "You could do a similar fix..."
It wouldn't be an easy fix, and certainly wouldn't be fast to set up. It
just might work out cheaper than a re-shoot though, depending on the
circumstances.

"Sounds like a job for hours and hours of Flame!"
Better still, use an Avid product. That could be fixed on a DS with an
experienced operator.
It would take a while to get the correct speed and softness of the rolling
mask, and probably longer to tweak the CC, but once those two 'bits' of the
equation are solved it should then be more or less an automated fix for
every shot. Unless the shutter changed on each scene of course.
It's possible that The Foundry's DeFlicker2 as an OFX plug on DS might be an
automated solution. It's designed to fix 'flicker' in "areas" of the image
(like an un-synced monitor or bad ballast on an HMI) as opposed to a global
flicker, but I'd have to test it before I could confidently say it would
work. It's very processor intensive but if it did work it would probably be
the best solution.
I'm sure any DS op who has Foundry's OFX on test (it's still in beta) would
be happy to run a test on a short clip.
