Re: [Avid-L2] OT - freelancer asked to sign Arbitration Agreement?

Thanks Jim and David. I've been freelancing for nearly 30 years in
NYC and am happy to report I only used Small Claims Court 3 or 4
times, all for non-payment. It was always a pain in the butt but
worked like a charm every time. It's either that or become a rip-off
enabler which I think hurts our profession where almost everything
was done on a handshake. (Now forms-agreements are more common but
they're all to protect the employer.)

I mention Small Claims Court because this Arbitration Agreement would
prevent me from using that route in a pinch. The American
Arbitration Association is a big unknown to me. It's all a little
strange because the vast majority of Small Claims Court cases go to
volunteer arbitrators -within the court system- to save the system
time and money. This system really works.

Best,

Paul
