[Avid-L2] Re: Importing PSD or Tiff with alpha ... They look awful

Many thanks to you all.
I have been playing around with loads of different combinations and I have found this.

1. Importing psd files with layers looks like sh...t. Only useful when one is in a hurry.

2. For the best results, I used the HDTV 1920x1080 72 dpi frame in Photoshop, flattened each layer, created an alpha channel using the quick mask tool and exported out each layer as a tiff or png file. In SD, the export looked awful.

This is extremely laborious because any letter with a hole in it i.e. O,A,D, etc has to clicked by hand.

But even after all this, the matte is still rough when you zoom into it.

I also did the same thing with illustrator thinking I would have a better matte, but it was not perfect.

My primary problem is that on a TV monitor, it looks alright, but on a computer screen, it looks rough as guts and now, so much is viewed on a computer.
