[Avid-L2] OT: How much perception influences editing critique

Been working with my wife offlining a show.  There are a lot of reenactments in the show and I go through and cut everything and then my wife goes through for a polish pass since she's been offlining the show going on 2 seasons.  I always like to see what little tricks she has up her sleeve to punch things up.  I took a look at a fight scene and thought, "Wow this really plays nice, my wife really spruced this up."  Out of curiosity I went back to my cut of the section to see what had been changed and much to my surprise it was identical except the last shot which had been changed due to a script revision.  Just goes to show how much my perception effects how I look at my own work.  I am my own worst enemy.  Must be time to start some daily affirmations, "You know because I'm worth it!"  ;-)  Heck who am I kidding it's time for a Sunday night Oki Dog. After all life's a comedy not a drama.
