[Avid-L2] OT: AfterEffects and FCP

Question for a friend:

Semi-live multicam recording of a live event to file.
Segments of the recording are being selected and edited (and captions added)
in FCP within 10-15 minutes after they occur, then put to air.
Graphics designer set up a comp for the captions in AfterEffects.

The whole turnaround between AfterEffects and FCP seems to take too much
time in the workflow. Is there any way to have FCP open AfterEffects stacks,
like one can do with Photoshop stacks?

I suggested they use a separate AfterEffects station to create and render
the graphics/captions into QT-with-alpha, for a quick implementation by the
editors.

Any other suggestions or tips?
