[Avid-L2] an interesting development

Over that last couple of days we have been hosting a Mac Pro show in
London's Soho for our customers.

We had SIENNA, specifically Picture Ready, Apple Color with a Euphonix
control panel and Eyeheight's software legaliser, MediaComposer 5 and
Euphonix, Adobe CS5 and Smoke 2011 all running on their own tricked out
Mac Pros.

We attached a few of them, using Xsan, to a DVS SpycerBox (a 40TB
StorNext SAN-in-a-can that can do up to two streams of 2K)

We were recording Pro Res QuickTime movies to the SpycerBox SAN and the
MC5 and Final Cut could open the same (still recording) movie and edit
with it.

AMA was how we did it on MC5, and we could load and edit and as we
edited, so the movie "grew" on the timeline. The same was true of Final
Cut.

We need to thrash it a bit harder, but we were mightily impressed with
our first look at up close and personal of MC5 and especially AMA. We
just opened the Capture Scratch folder in MC5 as an AMA folder and all
the QT movies appeared as yellow Masterclips; ready to edit. Rather
impressive.
