I think the idea is an inexpensive HD monitoring solution for now -
think about the shops that have only a few ingest stations - but a
farm of imacs (or whatever) for editing. Or, think about a
newsroom... Or folks that are acquiring file-based and don't want to
see the picture just on their computer screen. The MXO2 is being
utilized as a monitor connector at this point, that's all. The
exciting thing is that it's kind of a 'trial balloon' for integrating
3rd-party hardware. Of course Avid doesn't officially 'support' ATI
cards in media composer (except in iMacs) yet they seem to work great
on the Mac side. So... try it! Maybe it will work. Maybe not.
