Yes.
On Mac only through Bootcamp or an emulator.
On the Mac, you may also use RedCine-X, which - like MetaFuze - allows you
to create Avid MXF mediafiles directly (without the need to go through
QT/ALE). Seems to be a slight issue with color levels, but it does work.

You can run it on XP or Vista.

Basically, nearly any machine will do. Get the fastest you can find, fastest
processor, large amount of RAM, fastest drives.

That said, I have successfully run MF on the Bootcamp partition of my MBP17
3.06GHz (under Win Vista Biz 64bit), on a 2-year-old iMac under Parallels,
and on three different PC's.

If you look at the test results that Igor posted in the MetaFuze forum,
you'll see that a beast like a Z800 2xQC2.93 with 24GB of RAM with fast
drives can get you pretty decent transcoding times (up to realtime). My
machines are all older and slower, so I get around 5:1 or 6:1, meaning that
an average shooting day of 60 minutes of R3D files transcodes to DNxHD36 in
5 to 6 hours.

My AE has got a Mac Pro from January 2009, and we stuck my RedRocket card in
it. Now he is running RocketCine-X and RedCine-X and he gets 2:1 with that
setup. Nice.
