Re: [Avid-L2] Dede Allen, another great one passes

Dede Allen was one of the greats. She could take films that had serious structural problems (REDS, for example) and make them sing. There's an interesting article about her in an old issue of SHOW magazine circa 1970-71 when she was editing ALICE'S RESTAURANT (even she couldn't save that!) and showed how she cut purely for picture on here upright Moviola and an assistant then fitted the tracks to the image. A contrarian way of working, perhaps, but she was a master.

Her son, Tom Fleishman (sp?) is one of the great sound mixers in NYC, second only to the great Lee Dichter.

Very sad to see Ms. Allen leave us.
