Roger, you are most correct about the stand-alone part. Sometimes Avid crashes and the Marquee Tool remains running independently so there was my confusion in seeing it as a "stand-alone" application.

However, this software is part of Avid and not third party so the word "free" came to mind. Those free associations...

I have Adobe production CS4 at home, which is magnificent. At work, not all the edit suites have Adobe so Marquee is the defacto titling software. We (10 editors) all use it and all have come to respect its powerful capabilities.
