Someone asked me for a way to conform 5D footage -- as I haven't had
any experience with the 5D personally, I couldn't really help him out,
but I'm sure one of you has this figured out already!
So here we go:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
How on earth do you produce an EDL for a sequence that was shot on the 5D?
Recently a lot of clients from my work have shifted from using R3D to
the 5D but the problem is that the clips do not have any timecode
(this issue has been resolved for Final Cut Pro).
My solution (my only one at the time) was to offer the online facility
a an uncompressed 10-bit Quicktime that they can grade off - but
knowing Avid's exporting issues I wasn't comfortable doing this. Of
course - there is the other issue that when there are revisions this
will mean the colorist will basically re-grade the entire sequence
again.
Is there anyway to embed time-code into the 5D H.264 files so that an
EDL can be used to conform the sequence?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
As always, thanks a lot,
Christian
