We have been shooting DVCPROHD 720p/24pN on P2 for a particular client.
Editing with Media Composer 3.1.
We have a shoot coming up that would be better served by a "video look" for
it's initial use (VNR); however, I'd like to keep the footage compatible
with the library of 24p native footage.
I was thinking of shooting and editing the VNR at 720p60, which I can easily
convert to 1080i or 480i for distribution.
Thinking down the road, though...
I cannot mix 59.94 and 23.976 timebases within a project under MC 3.1. I
understand that I could do this in MC 4.0 and above.
So, what happens?
Does the Avid switch framerates per-clip, or does one pick a single
framerate that the Avid conforms playback to?
In the SD past, I have successfully intercut "24p over 60" and "30i" footage
by adding the Timewarp > FluidFilm 3:2 Pulldown effect; however, as of MC
3.1, that effect is not available in a 720p project.
Has this changed in subsequent versions, as that effect is probably the
magic bullet (pun intended) that I will need?
Thanks!
-Jeff
