I never physically spliced quad tape but I did more than a few of the
electronic "punch 'n crunch" edits from one (monochrome Ampex VR1100**)
quad machine to another.

Although if memory serves we used closer to a 7 second preroll based on the
mechanical counter, not 20 seconds like in the clip.

Ahhh, the bad old days...
