[Avid-L2] Re: Xpress DV (don't laugh) audio problem

It's been quite a few years, but I remember when using Xpress DV 4.x on my home setup, Avid would mute the audio on startup with the SoundMax card. The workaround was to open up the master volume control on the desktop before launching Avid. Then, right after Avid got through the initializing audio, but before it completed all of its startup functions, manually un-mute from the master volume tab. You had to be kind of quick, but it was cheaper than installing a new sound card.

Hope this helps.
